Bone Goes Back to Western Academy of Photography

Posted on: June 9th, 2010 by Bone Admin

Bone is proud to announce Western Academy of Photography, a PCTIA accredited photography, photojournalism and new media school based in Victoria, has selected BONE as its advertising Agency of Record. Immediate tasks assigned include the design and development of a new visual identity, positioning line, web site and strategic plan for growth.

This job is more than business; it has a personal story to it. Our Co-Creative Director, Shon Taylor, graduated from WAP in 1995. Take a look at his portfolio, we humbly believe WAP produces some talented photographers.

This year’s graduating class is another bumper crop. See for yourself and have your senses stirred at the graduate exhibition, Exposure. Showing on June 16 and 17 in Victoria, Exposure celebrates the creative imagery and writing of WAP’s graduating students from its Professional Photography, Journalism, Photojournalism and Advanced Visual Communications Programs.

DETAILS:

TOPAZ ROOM – COMFORT INN – 3020 Blanshard Street Victoria, BC

June 16: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
June 17: 10:00am – 4:00pm

Now, more about our brand building efforts on behalf of Western Academy of Photography.

For a shop that loves brand building as much as Bone, being asked to work with one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious schools of photography is exactly the kind of opportunity we live for. Take a brand with a great history and infuse it with 1,000 ccs of brand focus.

We are utilizing a similar strategy to the one we implemented for Sooke Adventure Tourism College that, in the past year, has produced double digit wait lists, an increase of 400% in applications and a 100% increase in enrolment.

Our plan is as follows:

  1. S.W.O.T. analysis

  2. Brand Foundation Meeting

  3. Visual Vision Statement

  4. Growth Plan

  5. Brand Development Implementation

  6. Print Collateral Upgrade

  7. Print/Digital Campaign

  8. Online Marketing Campaign

  9. Social Marketing Campaign

  10. Ongoing Direction

We will keep you posted on the progress as our plan takes shape.

BONE Awarded Smith Designs Site!

Posted on: April 1st, 2010 by Shon

There is no greater compliment than when a respected peer from the world of professional design let’s you know that they like your work. So when Smith Designs approached Bone to do their website we were delighted (and a little nervous).

For the past 25 years Jeff Smith has designed interior living spaces by taking the time to understand exactly what their client’s want and deliver. If accolades are any indication, Smith Designs really “gets it”, winning 3 gold and 10 silver Care Awards and nominated for 6, winning 2 Georgie Awards in 2009 alone.

So what do you do when a great designer asks you to do some work for them?

We ultimately decided to do what we always do. We took the time understand our client. We reviewed their marketing material and did a competitive analysis. Then came the really important part: We sat down with the fine team at Smith Designs asked a series of questions to discover what they really want. From there we crafted a plan, reviewed it with them, tweaked it, reviewed it again.

Find out the results when the Smith Designs website launches in early May.

BONE Lands on Bay Street

Posted on: January 14th, 2010 by Shon

Bone is thrilled announce the signing of a contract to rethink the web presence for portfolio management boutique Picton Mahoney Asset Management.

Based in Toronto, Ontario, Picton Mahoney Asset Management (PMAM) manages over $4 billion in assets for investors through three lines of investment solutions: alternative strategies, separately managed accounts and long-only mandates.

Preserving and enhancing the brand of a respected firm like PMAM is precisely the type of opportunity that Bone relishes.

PMAM is as courageous with their marketing as they are with their money management: They stand out. As money managers they are never indexers, closet or otherwise. The same can be said for their brand identity. No stock photos of couples walking on the beach, no lighthouses or graduation ceremonies.

Picton Mahoney Asset Management are leaders in volatility management. Our job is to let their target market know it.

At Bone we understand that we are only as good as our clients and the good news for us: These professionals are good. At the end of 2009 at the Canadian Investment Awards The Picton Mahoney Market Neutral Equity Fund received the award for Best Relative Value Hedge Fund.

Look for Picton Mahoney’s new website in the beginning of May and discover why, “It’s better in here.”
